Romans 8:28-39
28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Anything that I have done or good that has happened to me is because of God's unfailing love for me. They are all gifts!!

Why did I start this class????
When I started taking Tae Kwon Do I was going through a time in my life where I had given my life back to God. After a while I felt God calling me to do something to serve Him, something to help others learn of Him and to feel the love and comfort I was feeling since I turned back to Him. They were going through a time at church where they were campaigning for missions project that were happening at that time. My heart went out for that. I wanted to help but I felt that at was still way too immature in my faith to do anything significant. Did my heart soften at all about the idea? NO!!!
When I got my purple belt (8th Gup) I felt God calling me to use the Martial Arts that I was learning for Him. I thought how about a class that was Christ focused where the money went to missions. I knew that was it, that was what God wanted from me!!!! Now it was time to do well in the class and learn as much as I could so I could be a good instructor. So I set a goal for myself. Master Dunnebeck (my instructor) said that if you buckle down and are a good student you can get your Black Belt in less then four years.
At this time my brother in-law (check for him in my friends, Long Hair) was working with the middle school youth group at Spring Like Wesleyan Church called Fusion under the direction of Pastor Nate Kingsbury. My brother in-law asked if I wanted to come and check it out and see if I could help in some way. I did and I loved it. It gave me a way to learn how to talk to people about Jesus and it helped me grow in my faith. As I grew closer to God I knew that I wanted to help the youth ministry along with missions. After going on a mission trip with the youth group I knew God wanted me to use the karate class to reach out to people so they could know Him and to put the donated money towards the Youth Missions Fund.
After some time I talked to Pastor Nate about my calling from God and he loved it and could not wait for me to get my Black Belt so we could get started. Then the bomb dropped Nate was called away to a new church. The new pastor came and soon after that I had a sit down with him (check my friend list for Dan) and told him the whole story and he was in full support.
I got my black belt in October of 2006 and started teaching in January of 2007. I get some flack from people here and there about a class at the church but I will tell you right now I WILL NOT BACK AWAY FROM WHAT I KNOW GOD HAS CALLED ME TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This class is for anybody ages 10 through adult (or youger if the parent wants to take the class with them) that wants to learn The Martial Arts without worrying about the Eastern Religions being involved. We emphasize on basics, kata, self defense and free sparring. All of it is taught from a heart of defense. We do enjoy the sport side of it as well but it is mainly about defending yourself and others in a way that is pleasing to God. We put Christ first. We meditate on Gods Word and pray at the beginning of every class. That way we start out focused on Him. Christian Martial Arts.
