Our Grand Master has a Tea Ceremony when we recieve our black belts. It is a tradition of his symbolic. When you come to his class he askes that you come with a 'empty' cup so he can fill it. When you recieve your black belt he fills your cup, you drink it pledging your loyalty to him and your school. You fill his cup he drinks welcoming you to the family, continuing to share his knowledge with you. He is 'old school' and we are so blessed to have him. Master Chang trained in South Korea from the age of 6 with his brothers under his father. He can trace his TKD training on one hand! The ceremony makes a special day much more than that for me anyway! Nice to have traditions in this ever changing world.
