Ahhh!!! I'm nervous and fustrated. A week ago at work I was doing my job when I felt a pop. I knew it wasn't good so I called my boss right away. He took me to the nurse and from there to the doctor. There my fears were confirmed. I have a hernia, not just one, but two. I am fustrated because I am off work and bord out of my mind. I can't train or do any thing fun. I am nervous because I am having surgery on Monday. I have never had surgery so I don't really know what to expect. On the other hand I am looking forward to getting the hernias fixed so I can go back to training.
I had an inquinal hernia repaired in '92. Surgery was out-patient and over in 3 hours. I was out of work for 8 days w/ no heavy lifting for 4 months. After that, just work through the pain and take things slow. The surgery is really just a "Patch Job". They stitch a piece of surgical mesh over the tear in the abdominal muscle so some minor pulling and discomfort is to be expected. Enjoy the time off and remember:
ingenal hernia. the pain is in the lower abdomen and groin area. You may want to get your pain checked out. the doctor told me that the pain is cause when the intestines pass through the hole and get pinched. if the intestines remain pinched blood supply is cut off and this can cause damage to the intestines.
what kinda hernia? i sometimes have this sharp pain at the bottom of my stomach when i lift heavy weights, and someone told me that's caused by internal organs being pushed down (i.e., hernia) due to too much effort to lift weight. so now there are certain exercises that i avoid in the weight room.
