Recently in the past few months something quite significant has happen in the UK regarding TKD. Almost all of the TKD organisations in the UK are under the governing body the British Taekwondo Council (BTC). They have recently all decided that except for specific closed tournaments ALL taekwondo competitions will be open for students from any federation to take part with the only requirement being the tournament is run to the rules of the host. Due to this the GTUK Scottish Champs 08 had competitors not just from the GTUK but also from other groups like PUMA and TAGB. It was a great competition with hundreds of people taking part. But this is my blog, so lets just talk about me!
I havent competed for over a year and half so it was all a bit of a shock to me really. I paused slightly in my pattern and got knocked out in the first round which was, er fun. In the sparring i had a good fight but lost by 3 judges to 1. So all i had left was destruction. I am normally quite good at this and luckily, with a 2 inch board ridgehand strike and a 4 inch side kick i managed to take the gold medal!!! It took us a 15 hour round trip to get there but everyone in the car all won at least one gold so over all it was a great weekend!!!
