Summers are always weird for consistency in classes. My music classes are nutty right now, too. It's just how things are, but we're still getting work done. We're getting a lot of hits from interested people that want to join up as well. It's good.
There's no special "in the know" status on this; that's not how I work. The guy was rude and difficult; for me not to acknowledge that at this point would be pretty silly and dilusional. I'm not saying anything here that is out of line or inappropriate, in my view. Everyone is interested in what he has to offer, but everyone would prefer he not be a jerk when he offers it. That's no secret. The important thing is that we're trying to iron things out so that we don't have any more of this mess in the future. It's a process that will not happen overnight, but it will happen. In the meantime, feel free to study down there or up here. Just realize that if you're uncomfortable with something, you have the right (I think the responsibility) to walk out of that situation. If that were to happen, then let us know immediately. If you can handle that, then there's no reason why you shouldn't study and enjoy classes at either school.
At any rate, there's nothing else new with that and there's no reason to go over it any more until there's something new to say. Let it go for now and let's move on. If something new comes up, then we'll talk with each other about it. Enjoy your vacation and we'll pick up again when you're local.
Classes are going well. Things are cruising along as planned and we're very happy with that.
David is still in Ojai, California for another week or so. He's at a J. Krishnamurti retreat there and it sounds like he's having a great time doing it. He and I are both into J. Krishnamurti's work (youtube him if you don't know) and it's awesome that he had the time to get out there. I'm sure he'll have stories.
Just to be clear, it's not that I'm using war-making abilities here... It's important that we all work as a unit and when someone works counter to that, it needs to be addressed appropriately. Talent isn't enough and neither is the volume you say things; we have to find a way that works for us all and give space for everyone's talents to come forward. If we don't do that, then we're not a school - we're just a bunch of pushy jerks that don't care about teaching. As we've all seen, pretending to teach doesn't keep the students coming back. You don't need any other explanation from me - you can see for yourself.
Nonetheless, all of you acted with respect and have nothing to feel bad about. This gentleman is at a moment of truth in his own training. It could be beautiful; he could find a new way to do things that works with everyone and we'll all benefit including him. It could be ugly, he could keep like he is and end up rather isolated from it. The important thing is that we give him the space to find out on his own without allowing it to get in the way of our functioning. The advantage you have is that we're all on the same page here and you're not left on your own to contend with the mountain of poo coming down the pike. We're here to help you dig out. ;)
Just hang in there with it. We'll keep it to a minimum. Do your best and keep your attention there. Keep a polite and civil way about you and let us handle this. As always, keep the communication open with us.
Oh, and rest up. We have a lot of work to do when you get back. Each demo has to be better than the last and I plan on keeping that plan. We all have work to do!
Somethings just can't be helped!! Oh Did you enjoy your lunch with that guy?
The Mythic Collingham - any meal with that sucka is a good meal.
I am pretty sure at this point that you're downplaying what was said to you before the demo. You're such a little peace maker... :) Nonetheless, I'm still sorry you had to deal with the wrath of wee man. Thanks for doing the demo and I'll do what I can to minimize future drama for everyone. Have fun while you're away and we'll look forward to picking things up when you're local again.
