The best tip I can give you is to keep your guard up!  If your guard goes down, you open yourself up to getting a punch or a kick to the head.

The next best tip is to just keep trying and don't get discouraged.  With time and practice, your skills will improve.

Also, don't forget to practice your forms.  The muscle memory created by this kind of practice will help you to use combinations in your sparring.

Thank you!  That means a lot.  I do enjoy it quite a bit and even on the most frustrating nights I look forward to my next lesson.  I figure if I had a bad one, the next one is sure to be better!

Hello!  I really enjoyed your profile.  You must be so proud of your Army family for their honorable service!  We, too, are an Army family.  My husband is currently deployed to Iraq...it's his third deployment in the last five years.  It's so very challenging but also very rewarding.  I'm so proud of our troops!  BTW, I'm ITA also.  How do you like the BJJ?  We haven't added that at our school...at least not yet. :)
