Before Master Chang came to take over my school I was also lied to for my first 5 yrs. of tkd. My first Master said he was a 9th Dan but Master Chang said there was no such thing in tkd and that my other Master was only a 1st Dan like us. I still have some bad habits from my previous Master.
Are you sure that GM Chang said there was a 9th Dan in TKD? Maybe he said that your old master was not a 9th Dan? Because there is a 9th Dan in TKD. Anyone who says they are a 10 th Dan in WTF is not telling the truth. GM Chang is a good man & a great instructor. I've been around TKD for a long time & I've met a lot of people in the Art. I knew GM Chang when we were both in high school. If I didn't think he was a good guy, I wouldn't bother even saying that I knew him.
I'm was just curious. 3rd Dan seems pretty high for me.
3rd Dan isn't all that high considering I've been training for more than 25 years. I left the school where your GM Chang & I trained together when the master sold it. I went to a school where I was lied to about the ranks I was given there. It took a long time to discover that...and a long time before I trusted another instructor.
I've enjoyed training my whole life & I absolutely love teaching. My rank will come in time.
