I competed in the brown belt division. I received 3rd place in forms, 3rd place in weapons (first time ever competing in this), and 3rd place in board breaking. I'm very happy since this is the first tournament since the knee injury. On Monday, I will be testing for 2nd brown belt. I'm ready. I'll let you know how I do.

We had pre-testing on 03/31/2008. All the ranks are ready for the testing on 04/07/2008. The instructors had the brown belts go first. We did very well. Then, they had the blue belts next. He did very well (there was only one). They did the other ranks and everyone did fine. Next, we did board breaking with the rebreakable boards. Everyone broke the boards. I believe everyone is ready. We'll know next Monday night!
We're preparing for a belt testing which is two weeks away. The instructor was pleased with my forms, but wants me to work on the stances just a bit more. Everyone seems to be well prepared for testing. I'm looking forward to testing since I'll be going for 2nd brown.
Our class was a lot of fun and work since we're preparing for an upcoming belt test. We did forms and one-step sparring. A lot of students seem to be well prepared, but others need some catching up to do. I told them (with the instructor's permission) that I would come early before class started to help them. They did show up and I helped them. The instructor helped me with my weapon form and I now feel more comfortable with it. I have never competed in weapons form before so this is new to me. That's all for now!
We had class tonight. We practiced forms, forms, and forms. I was allowed to teach Chun-ji to a white belt and Yul Gok to a couple of blue belts. They all caught on fairly quickly. We have testing on April 7 so hopefully they might be ready. If not, the instructor will kindly tell them it would be better to wait until the next testing. It was a good class. We also had a push up and sit up contest for the kids to win prizes (like shoestrings with TKD on them or bracelets). The kids had fun. Pil Sung!
I did some weight training, cardio, and stretching this morning. I finally figured out that in order to strengthen the knee, I needed to do single leg squats on the machine. It has really helped.
Class went very well today. We practiced a lot of different blocks. We focused on the hopping front kick. I saw students who couldn't get the technique at first blossom and did very well. We also learned a few new stretches and a technique to help build strength in the hip flexors.
There are several tournaments coming up in a few weeks. I have been weight training, doing cardio stuff, stretching, practicing forms, and other things. If the weather permits, I will be going to four tournaments with the first one starting on March 15. I'm looking forward to these.

I bought a DVD titled "Battle Warrior" starring Tony Jaa. It has decent martial arts action and included bloodthirsty zombies. The plot wasn't the greatest, but it kept my interest for the whole viewing.
