Drive vs Motivation
Posted On 02/28/2008 11:37:08
I am having a lot of mental trouble lately.... now before you worry, not in the men in white coats way, but in the ability to find the mental motivation to actually do what i desire.

I really really want to train hard and well. I think about TKD, moves, techniques etc most of my working day and really want to work hard to learn this find art.

However, the operative work in that statement is "want"! I have the drive to do well but just dont have the motivation i need to actually get up out of my seat and do something about it. This means that I have the normal rush up to grading to clean up my techniques, learn new moves, new korean etc etc and I really dont want it to be this way. I want to learn it all the time, to stretch, get physically fit, train etc so that grading are what they should be, a session to show what I know about this wonderful art.

One problem i guess is is that I have a very stressful and time demanding job (IT New Sales selling software and services) and at the end of each day i am beat the moment i get through the door. I regularly leave my house at 6am to be at a meeting for 9am and my only real time to trains is our monday and wednesday night sessions where my work, and clients, all know i HAVE TO leave on time to get to training.

I guess I will just have to get out there and do it, hopefully the exercise will give me more energy in both my job and further training!!!

Last night i felt the earth move for the first time...

For some bizarre reason I drove a 400 mile round trip last night after work to visit a friend for an hour and was travelling home at 1am when i felt as if the car was going to fall apart!! Turned out the uk was hit by a 5.2 earthquake at 1am last night. No i know this doesnt sound a lot to you american users but to us UK people thats almost unheard of!!!

Still, house and family were ok so no real harm done, the only down side is i am knackered!! LOL

Sometimes technology Is the bomb

Having had a hard days training i thought I would relax at home and browse youtube for a few TKD vids and general funny stuff (halo 3 akon video is my current fav!) only to find youtube is currently down.

HOW VERY RUDE!!

New to running.... Asthma.... ewwww
Posted On 02/23/2008 08:01:36
Well i have decided to start running to build up my stamina for sparring etc as i feel this is a major point at present for my progression in TKD.

So i donned some running gear, fired up the ipod, grabbed the missus's satnav watch (she runs marathons as a hobby!) and headed out the door.

All was going well for, well, about 5 minutes. Then my asthma kicked in worse that it had for years and within about 30 secs i had gone so dizzy i felt i was going to pass out. I stopped, used my inhaler, caught my breathe and carried on going. I managed to do a mile is 12 minutes which, whilst not olympic speed, I didnt feel too bad considering my attack. On a plus point i didnt actually feel that tired afterwards and feel that if it wasnt for my asthma i could have gone of for longer.

So, plan is to take it a bit easier and build up my defenses to my breathing condition. To be honest the 3 degree temp didnt help it too much but at least i am out trying my best. I doubt I will ever be challenging the missus but my aim is it to be able to do about 6-7 miles fairly comfortably within the next 6 months.

UK Squad Training
Posted On 02/16/2008 04:35:02
Well i am in two minds as to whether to go to UK Squad training or not. Its open to BLue belts and above and i from what i gather, whilst its only black belts in the UK squad, blue belt and above can go as "pre" practice for possible squad entry.

The problem is i can imagine getting owned every minute of the 3 hour session by basically everyone there and just generally showing myself up....

Its tomorrow so i dont have much time to decide!!
