Quick update on the week
Posted On 05/11/2008 10:31:03
Havent posted a blog in some time so i thought I would jsut do a quick update.

Went to training last week (wednesday) and was practicing jumping round house kicks and defense against them in pairs. I went up to do a kick but the other guy blocked with a punch which hit me right on my toes. One of them made a really nasty cracking noise and i couldnt walk for about an hour. For the rest of the week it still hurt and i was limping for days. Went out for a beer on saturday night and got a bit drunk and didnt really feel the pain in my foot so i was walking normally. Suddenly my foot made a crack and hurt a fair bit but them the pain went away. Turns out i had dislocated my toe and now, bar the bruising and a bit of swelling, its miles better so i will now be fit to attend a comp i had been looking forward to at the end of the month!

Gym training
Posted On 04/06/2008 03:03:06
Following on from my running adventures I have recently joined a proper gym. I am currently going every morning at 7am for an hour before work. I row about 2000m, do about 1500m on the cross trainer, run 4000m then do 1000m on the hand bike. Its all quite tiring by my fitness level has gone through the roof already! I am starting weight training on tuesday once my personal trainer has programmed up my weight program in fitlinxx.

I would advise extra training, be it in a gym or road running etc, to anyone who isnt do anything extra yet!!

News as blogs
Posted On 03/19/2008 15:04:07
I am getting a bit agitiated by the increasing use of the blog system for people to post random news (not related to them at all) and various other things like videos.

I am not against news and videos but there are other places for it on on here i reckon and I spend loads of time clicking next next next to actually get to a blog written by someone about them.

Anyway, rant over!!!

Grading result
Posted On 03/19/2008 15:01:00
I have just got back from my grading tonight and it went much better than i imagined!! My patterns went well, step sparring and free sparring was great and I managed all my breaks on a lightweight free standing horse (requires more technique due to the fact it moves back when you hit it if you dont do your technique right).

So I have passed!! I am not a red tag and quite chuffed. Only a few more gradings now till I REALLY get to learn TKD!!!

Last lesson before grading..
Posted On 03/17/2008 15:39:01
Today was my last lesson before my grading on Wednesday. I was nervous before, mainly about my break, but my patterns went well and I finally did my break (reverse roundhouse kick) which i have been struggling with. We had a bit of a "play" session afterwards in which we did various breaks. I did 4 inch's with side kick and 2 inch's with a roundhouse (or as we call it a turning kick).

Looking forward to the grading, just some korean and 2 step 3 & 4 to practice but i have gone from worrying to being quietly confident.

Running update..
Posted On 03/17/2008 10:50:42
I would like to say thanks to all that gave me words of encouragement regarding perserverance with running. Over the past few weeks I have progress from only being to to run 400m wihilst feeling like i am dying to having completed a 2 mile run yesterday and just feeling pretty tired but still conversant (just about!!). I am aiming to be able to run about 4-5 mile by the end of April so that I am quite fit for our competition at the end of April.

New job update....
Posted On 03/05/2008 03:23:40

Just to give an updat eon my new job position. It turns out that due to my new employer being a client of my current employer they are liable to pay a finders fee of 50% of my annual salary to take me on. That mean that they will have to pay not only my wages but also a £35k ($70k) fee to my current company!!!

That just sucks!!!

Still they want me to come so i guess they have some trick up their sleeve!! LOL On a plus side their office is right next to a gym so i can train at lunchtimes now!!!!

New Job, New adventures
Posted On 03/03/2008 10:47:27
Today I have accepted a new job at a different company and i feel like i am having a melt down. Its a very stressful time, what with money and work issues and I have decided to try and sort both with a fresh start in a slight change of career. In essence I used to work as consultant at my current company but a year ago moved into sales. This has been great.... at the times i have been allowed to sell. The problem is that due to me moving into sales it created a gap in skills that has resulted in me frequently being called back into the my last role. I took a fairly large paycut to move into sales with the money being made back up with commision but it has just turned into a nightmare with me effectively working doing more for 25% less money.

I recently had a client offer me a very decent job as a Commercial IT Manager with a fixed salary far in excess of my current wage and so today i accepted. The worry is now that tomorrow I have to resgin from my current workplace of 3 years!

Its all very scary and stressful, i have a crazy mad headache, the shakes and all sorts of things. Still training tonight so that should clear my head a bit.

On a plus note, due to my job now being 9-5 I can actually open my own do-jang when i reach blackbelt in a year or so's time so i am very excited about that possibility!!!
