Two weeks after my 1-Dan test in April '83, I broad-sided a pickup on my motorcycle and broke both legs ( left tibia & fibula compound) my right arm at the elbow, right tibual plateau and right ankle, lost 50% of my blood, and had a concussion and was unconscious for three days. THEN I developed an Embolisim in my chest... I thought I caught chicken pox somehow from blood transfusion. I didnt know!!! THAT slowed me down for a while. About 4 years before I dared try martial arts seriously.
However, I did assist while I had the cast on my left leg for a while. My left leg is now 5/8ths shorter after insertion of a 550mm x 55mm rod and accompanying bone graft a year after the accident. I have NO Fibula in my left leg.
In 1991 or '92, I fought full contact three rounds in Bentonville, AR and won in the sub-main event.
But before I get ahead of myself, in August 1991 I was shot in the chest with an AR-15 on a Saturday night and taught class that following Tuesday. But it is "OK because we knew each other and there was a lack of eviden$e," according to the former Assistant D.A. in Delaware County, Oklahoma. I think he bought a boat with his share of the bribery money. (see:

Had several knee surgeries and taught class within 2 days of each and in doing so produced a NASKA Bluegrass Nationals 1st place Demo Team in 2005.
The three other concussions in POINT sparring are trivial.
Injury only means what you let it mean. Don't let it control you. You control it.
