Old_Guy, plenty of "knee friendly" things you can do:

1.  Swimming
2.  Elliptical training
3.  Recumbant bike
4.  Row Machine
5.  Biking

Using some sort of H.I.I.T. (Goggle it if you need to learn more about it) or Tabata training will do wonders for your cardio and, as an added benefit, help reduce some extra weight.
