Actually, the United States Marine Corps HAS come up with a martial art that is based on the concept of the fighting Marine, armed as they are, going into combat.

I reviewed their basic manual, which provides an overview of the skills needed to attain their most basic required belt level to graduate boot camp.  (Tan Belt)

Folks... this is the real deal... stripped down to the bare essentials.  Absolutely ROCK solid, and simple stuff.

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for the curriculum overviews on the other belt levels, to be sure.  I could see real fast where a 'straight to the point' program like this, if modified appropriately, COULD serve as a basis for a solid defense program for civilians through martial arts schools.  (Obviously citizens don't carry an M16A2 service rifle with fixed bayonet!)

It's definitely a great system from what I've read of it.

Haven't seen the new manual but since I did my L.E.O. training just North of Camp Lejune and West of Cherry Point (aka Cherry Pit), many of my instructors were Marines, Ret. Marines (I know, there is no such thing ), or Ret. Army.  A lot of the S.D. I learned in the academey was straight from D.I.'s.  Love to get my hand on the new curriculum.

The first link, is the MCMAP basic manual, which covers all you have to know, to complete Marine Boot Camp's level of MCMAP, which is 'tan belt'.

It's a good overview of MCMAP at the basic level.  Plenty there to build on as a foundation.

The second link, is to the MCMAP homepage.

This is the link to the Human Weapon Episode on the History Channel site, which covers MCMAP.
