lol I love how we're not just going into martial arts weapons. Let's see. I personally like any sniper rifle in any first person shooter game I play. I like bows and arrows too when I get into those fantasy games. Anyways for martial arts weapons. I those weapons that are small and easy to carry. Like nunchucks and Kali/Escrima sticks. If ever got the time to get into weapons training, I might go for Kendo or Haidong Gumdo with the swords.

I love archery. I currently own a Browning compound bow that I have hardly any time to use. I told my son that when he can pull it back, he can have it (its strung at about 70 pounds). Well, I guess I need to fork over, because as of a month ago, he can.
I'd like to get a traditional recurve bow, but I've also an interest in kyudo. Ah, but time is not my friend.

I like bo staff, first due to the fact it's a realistic weapon, and because I am short. I am also beginign to like the tonfas. I have experience with sais, numchukus, and kamas. I don't have a desire to learn sword. That's just me.
I also like to be ready on the word, for spiritual battle, the Bible. Now some may say that's not a weapon, but it is. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and poerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Also 2nd Corinthians 10:4-5 says The weapons we fight with are not of this world. On the contrary, they have devine power to demolish strong holds

Ephesians 6:17 "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God." I'd call that a weapon. The most effective weapon! See; you do practice the sword! Daniel

All good answers.
My favorite weapon is my 9mm Springfield XD. I recently started training in pistol shooting. I joined a local chapter of IDPA (international Defensive Pistol Assoc.). One of the things that really surprised me is how closely related the hand-to-hand self defense is to firearms self defense.
Did you know.. In most self defense situations that you would use a firearm, the assailant is going to be very close to you. Police studies show that when they use their gun it is usually at ranges closer than 21 feet.
One bullet from a pistol isn't likely to stop someone who is a threat. Typically it takes at least two. This contradicts what we see on TV where the hero uses one shot to drop the villian. Also, it explains why we sometimes hear in the news of a criminal being shot multiple times by police. Most officers today are trained to shoot until the threat is gone.
Many gang members have been shot at least once in their past. While the ordinary law abiding citizen still has a healthy respect for firearms, gang members are becoming braver.
All this means that a gun isn't going to be enough to save you from harm. Especially if your attacker is on drugs etc. As I have learned more about using a pistol for self defense I am very happy to have my martial arts background. It has given me confidence and it has also taught me how to respond to threats.

So many people have this idea that a gun makes bad guys stop in their tracks simply by pointing it at them and that squeezing the trigger makes them fall down. They seem to forget that like any other weapon, use of a gun requires training to make it effective. Not only that, guns must be maintained and cared for. One of the problems with guns in our country (I can't speak for other countries) is that people have lost the respect for them. They buy them and treat them like a good luck charm and then wonder why it didn't save them when the time comes to use it. Also, kids with guns treat them like toys. Parents with guns in the house need to teach their kids proper gun etiquette and safety.
