I know that the kwans were united by Kukkiwon; my question is this: what kwan does your school trace its style to before kukkiwon?  Or does your school only trace to Kukkiwon?

Our grandmaster traces his personal lineage to Kang Duk Won, though he holds a 6th dan with Kukkiwon.  Our school is a WTF/KKW school.

Anyway, there was a very informative kwan discussion here before the section disappeared, so I figured I'd bring up the subject of kwans again since I found the last discussion interesting and informative.

Moo Duk Kwan according to our GM K.C. Chung.  Not knowing his Master's name I haven't been able to find the name Chung on the Moo Duk Kwan family tree that Mike has in the Moo Duk Kwan Group on this site.

Still, GM Chung's school all have Moo Duk Kwan on all the documentation and uniforms.

It would be pretty cool if we were getting Kang Duk Won specific as well as KKW training.  I understand that Kang Duk Won was more hand technique intensive and less kicking intensive.  Don't know first hand, though with Hapkido, I'm getting plenty of hand technique!

i'm from ohdokwan/songmookwan, and currently, the way i'm teaching reflects little bit of both.  a lot of street fighting self defense and a lot of punching.

I forgot to add lineage. Founder GM Lee, Won Kuk: his student, GM Uhm, Woon Kyu: his student, GM Park, Hae Man: his student, GM Edward Sell: his student, me.

Kwan?  What's a Kwan?!?

Just kidding!

My first 8 years was with the ATA which was based off the ITF, and Gen. Hong Hi Choi's Chang Hon forms, thus related to Oh Do Kwan.  After a year of independent teaching, I spent the next 15 years with the Jidokwan.  Now, since 2000, I have been with the U.S. Chung Do Kwan Association, and I believe I have found a permanent home here.

Same lineage as Iceman - -
