I began Taekwondo on September 5, 1986. I was a walk on wrestler at Iowa State University. During the 2nd week at the univeristy I was finishing a workout with the wrestling team, it was a doozy. I was still laying on the mats when in walks awhole bunch of white belts. Shortly after that in walks Master Yong Chin Pak. I watched Coach Les Andersen go up and talk to him and they shared a few laughs. I walked up and intorduced myself, Master Pak invited me to stay and try the class. Despite my being dead tired already, I just had to try. I had wanted to do Taekwondo for almost 6 years but had no opportunities living in the small town I grew up in.

I was hooked. within a year I had left the wrestling team but instead had committed fully to working with Master Pak. I was part of the ISU Hapkido, ISU Karate (named such only because there were 2 clubs teaching taekwondo), and the ISU Judo clubs. I even served as the social chair for the judo club. I've been apracticing, resarching and teaching ever since.

Since leaving ISU in 1990 I have look to the teachings I recieved from Master Pak to guide me whenever possible. While I am no longer directly affiliated with the Pak Family his legacy does flow throw to my students.

I believe in hard workouts, with a dash of philisophical discussion. I believe the inidvidual should make the art fit themselves not make themselves fit the art.

I mostly focus on Hapkido Instruction these days but I do still teach Taekwondo and occasionally coach others for compititions.

I am a father and husband with a wonderful loving family. I work as a corrections officer at the Douglas County Jail in Omaha, Nebraska. I have been in corrections for about 7 years now. Before that I was a programmer/analyst for almost 15 years.

I am the senior Master Instructor at San-Mai Headquarters in Omaha. I focus on the instructor develolpment and the teaching of the adults, juniors, hapkido students, and black belt training.

Additionally I continue to serve my county as a Master-at-Arms in the United States Navy Reserve. In 2006 I was mobilized to the middle east for a 14 month deployment with Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Unit 114. It was a long but enlightening deployment. I had the opportunity to train many sailors, airmen, soldiers, and even marines.
