Tae Kwon Do as with any martial art has to be believed in and taken for the right reasons. To want to just learn to fight and beat people up is not the right reason. I believe that TKD has that moral and ethical code of honor that is required buy all martial arts styles. Just in are school the instructors re-itterate and enforce the values of the TKD phylosophy. It is something that I feel all young people should learn. TKD is now my main path to follow in beliefs and wisdom for enlightenment

I started in the Martial Arts in 1982 when I was 24 years old in the Japanese form of Tatsu Do (The Way of the Dragon) I recieved my Black Belt 1st Dan in May of 1985. I taught at the school that I was attending for a year and competed in many tournaments for the next 3 years. Due to changing jobs over the following 10 years or so I was unable to continue with my training. Jobs in New York ( Upstate ) are not the greatest for keeping workers employed, Many Layoffs.
In July of 2007 I moved to Rock Hill, SC. My wife and I moved due to our jobs, we are both repair techs for Honeywell (formerly Hand Held Products) the move came at a good time for us we were both wanting out of New York due to its High taxes. My step-son noticed the many martial arts schools down here and decided to check them out. And from that point on I myself got back into the martial arts. I'll be 50 this year and enjoying the training even my wife has joined and loving the fitness aspect of it.
A note about Tatsu Do, Tatsu Do is an ecletic style of martial arts Our Shihan spent many years training in Yoshin Ryu, Shito Ryu while in the south, He then met Master Kyoto Durante who after 3 years allowed him to join Goshin Jutsu Kyo Jujo.
Under Master Durante, Shihan was taught Karate, Aiki Jutsu, JuJutsu.
