I started TKD back in '96. Martial arts was something that I ALWAYS wanted to do, but it was not available to me growing up. After seeing Karate Kid! Come on! Who didn't want to kick Johnny's butt? Err face?
ABOUT ME
I was so nervous when I started. But, all the students made me feel like I was part of the family. By the time I became a brown belt, I was going to 6 classes a week. I trained hard and didn't want to miss a class for fear of missing something. It was a way to get out of the house and have some much deserved me time. I was a stay at home mom of 2, at the time. Even after moving an hour away, I continued going to 4 classes a week, 2 on Tues & 2 on Thurs. Well, I continued attending classes and leading and teaching until I was 8 months pregnant with my third child. What a sight I was! I had already earned my 1st Dan and was 1 month away from being eligible to test for 2nd, but it obviously wasn't the right time for that. 4 years went by and I found a school closer to home and started training again. Took my time relearning everything & started teaching again. Passed my 2nd Dan test. Now, I own and operate my own school with blessings from our main school. I love what I do. It is my passion. I can't imagine doing anything else.
TKD SCHOOL INFORMATION
Grandmaster Woo Jin Jung
Main school, Cedar Rapids, IA
Glad you didn't think you were too "old" to start TKD with your son.
Old schmold! I had my trepidations but that didn't stop me. Now, I hang w/ the younger folks and still manage to surprise them. I don't bounce or do fancy, high-flying acrobatic stuff but I can hold my own in the ring and breaking! Let's just say I bring a bit of reality to my school.
