Favorite Weapon
I was wondering what your  favorite weapon is? Whether it be short/long staff, nun chucks, kamas, or anything else you prefer and why? Just curious!

My favorite is certainly the sword.  It is elegant, effective, and looks darned good at the belt.

In terms of my most likely weapon, I'd have to say the jo stick or cane.  These can be carried in public as a 'walking stick' or cane with no legal issues, and I can apply all of my juk-do (bamboo sword) tehcnique to it.

I just started learning sai, self teaching, mind you.  I would love to learn spear; a very cool weapon not specific to any one culture, able to utilize bo techniques as well as using is as a spear.

Daniel, we must be brothers from different mothers or something.  I too love the sword and am partial to the bo.  To see a true Master of the sword give a demonstration is a joy.  The bo staff, a weapon that is common to most households, is my favorite because it is so common!  You don't have to have one of those flashy, sparkley demo staffs.  Or even one from a catalog.  A nice piece of oak dowel, cut to length, or even an old broom/mop handle is just fine to learn with....

I regularly practice with a Bo staff which is thoroughly enjoyable. At my club we also use Gumdo swords and Nunchakus. Mostly use the staff though - probably because I own one. Looking into picking up a set of 'chucks but the ones at the academy are the compettion ones with the really short chains. Too small for my big mitts.

I've been practicing more with my chucks lately and have been working with sai as well.  So far, its a lot of fun and I've managed not to hit myself in the head:P
