Anyone else heard the rumour that the TAGB has been spoken to about entering into the olympics? Just a side thought.

Not I.  Does their sparring differ from WTF style?

TAGB are pretty much like ITF style so it includes punches to the head etc

Just on this topic i really dont think it could happen. The TAGB is, by its name, the TaeKwonDo Association of Great Britain and it really wouldnt be right for them to act as the governing body for any sort of TKD in that way.

Really it would be much more likely that ITF Administration in Canada would control the ruleset if it was ever going to happen.

That said, the TAGB does run great comps all around the world and would be a good advisory body as to how to run an ITF sanctioned event.

I would put more money on some kind of combine WTF/ITF board that could help join ITF and WTF under the guise of running olympic sparring which could hopefully spread out to general TKD. I think its perfectly ok for WTF and ITF to become as one yet still maintain their individuality as different styles of the same Martial Art, but i guess thats a completely different discussion!

Oh i didn't mean that the TAGB would be the governing body for olympic Tae Kwon-Do. I meant that they have been spoken to about being allowed to enter the olympics. Im assuming this is like you said a branch out to test out the ITF/TAGB way of sparring as opposed to WTF sparring. (The former being the more enjoyable to watch imho).

Any1 esle have any thoughts on this topic?

That sounds interesting....I would personally prefer to see ITF style sparring (or even patterns, etc as well) in the Olympics- but maybe I'm biased!

One unique thing about TAGB- their international competitions (Taekwondo International being the affiliate) are usually open to WTF and ITF! The Taekwondo International/TAGB World Championships 2007 (which I bought the DVD of from Ebay!) features both styles and took place in the Birmingham National Indoor Arena and had over 2000 competitors!!

Indeed, it would be good for them to help sort out some kind of hybrid olympics TaeKwonDo.

Is the TAGB World Championships DVD worth buying? I thought about it but didn't know weather it was worth the money.

I am hopeful that the sparring rules for TKD changes and more judges start scoring points for hand strikes.  From other styles I did more open competitons that hand strikes were scored with and using them in TKD usually get warnings and so forth.
