Well I have this problem with my knee/shin. Before, when I hit [not too light, enough to produce a sound by tapping a table] somewhere slight above the start of the shin bone [near the meniscus i think] towards the outside[right side of right knee], then now there's another pain it's near/at the start of the shin bone, whenever I bounce or shifting footwork, less than 3min = pain. the 2 areas of pain is about 1cm or less apart from each other.

I'm overweight so I guess it's due to the overpressure on the knee. Or is it something else?

Do I use deep heat or deep freeze for this? And should I continue with light training [poomsae without full force] and go for my grading[poomsae full force and sparring(light-mid contact) of 30s] in about a mth's time?

I personally advise that when you have any indication of knee pain that you have it immediately diagnosed before it becomes serious.

I agree that carrying extra weight can be the cause of the pain and being overweight can put you at greater risk for knee problems - so why not work at losing some of that extra weight

It could possibly be a minor injury to the ligaments perhaps caused by sudden or twisting but as I mentioned you might want to have it checked and in the meantime perhaps wear a knee brace for support and take ibuprofen for pain.

AND always warm up before training and cool down afterward. Stretch your quadriceps and hamstrings.

Having had a torn meniscus repaired in January, I fully support getting it checked out by a Sports Orthopedist.  When it comes to knees and the the spine, better safe the sorry.

I have some knee trouble- with the knee cap as described in the link from KickChick. A consultant did an MRI scan and decided a course of 3 months rest and then physio.

The physio did help, but it still hurts walking up stairs and stuff. It has also helped in changing organizations from ITF to TAGB, as the TAGB don't practice sine-wave, which also made my knees hurt!

i thought it was non-sine wave that had larger movement = more pain. o.o

idk i have lots of joint problems to ... but i would try to do my best.. but if it does start to feel messed up i will lighten it up a bit ... and yeah every pound you have is 4 pounds of pressure on you knees ... idk how that works thow ... but it said it on tv on a commercial when they wanted people to lose weight or something ... lol and you can try to do your form full force when your all a lone and see how it feels and if its ok or if its a constant pain then lighten it up i gess ...
