Ok see I have joint problems right and one of the older instructors was playing around and taped my knee ... but this little 12 year old black belt saw the instructor do that so he thought it was ok to kick me. But he hit my knee hard to the point I almost went to the floor and that day when I came to tkd class I was holding everything in and trying to hold my tears back from school/family stuff and when he did that I fell apart!!! I started crying he thought he hurt me but I just couldn't hold it in. I wanted to take his head and hit it agents the wall and elbow him in the face. But I didn't I just told him not to do it and when he said he was sorry, I said "it's ok I just got some family problems" and before I was even done saying it, he was walking away to go play with the other kids! WTF! I was ok with him kicking me and at least said sorry but to walk away and roll your eyes at me in a middle of a sentence! o no! he better watch out and I hope we are gonna spar cause I really dont care if he lives or dies now .. Im sorry, I give everyone my respect but when you lose it! ITS ON! And I really dont care if he is 12, if he is old enough to get a black belt he should know better. And hes one of those people that think their better then everyone and shows off but FAA!! naw hes not good. Yeah I know you guys are saying "man your a messed up black belt" But I dont care. respect is the number one thing.

Calm down don't kill him! LOL sometimes kids need a lesson - be tactful and break him down - don't break him! Good luck...

Exactly, it does no good the beat him down when he isn't even going to know why.  So get his undivided attention sit him down and tell him how it made you feel.  Unless he's made of stone he'll understand and will probably regret what he has done and apologize again.  Accept his apology.

Remember to you it was a huge deal but he's 12 to him it was another night at TKD.  You should explain why it was a big deal and don't be surprised if he doesn't get it.

Agree with both previous responses but no one should ever kick knees, they are what hold us up. I worry about my knees more than any other part of my body at Taekwondo, or at any other activity for that matter. Both are still fine after 50 odd years touch wood.

I'm going to be the odd one out and agree with this.

Blackbelt means you can fight.  It also means that you're supposed to be mature.  As Kickin' said, if you wanna wear the belt, you can no longer hide behind your age.

If a child cannot act like a blackbelt, then they should't be promoted into the rank and mommy and daddy should save their money make the kid wait until he or she has the maturity to wear the rank.

Now, Kickin, I'm assuming that this took place in sparring.  If so, then I'd treat him as you would an adult student and score as many headshots as you can.

If this did not happen during sparring; i.e. the kid just walked up and kicked her, then the little punk should be striped of his rank and expelled from the school.

I totally agree with this. No one should be kicking at the knees. If he's a black belt he should have some control.

Lawl? Jk. Heehee. There have been times when an instructor has me spar someone just to knock some respect into them. I see your point. But geez what the frick? By age 12 some dumb kid (dumb or not) should know the difference between a tap and a kick. Who honestly says to themself, "Hey, that gril must be a punching bag! *leh dur*"...

I don't care about logic - a black belt isn't something you wear, it is something you are.

This to me is a total lack of respect and discipline in the ranks. Kickin I think this should be brought to your Instructor. Playing around or not this young man needs to have a serious discussion about acceptable behavior regardless of  his rank. I had a similar situation occur almost 4 years ago and didn't find out about it until it was to late. Everyone involved in the situation lost out in the deal. I would have given the then 13 yr. old a choice of service to everyone else in the school (ie. greeting everyone at the door with a bow and then carrying their gear, wiping everyone's gear down after sparring, opening the door of every woman's car for them when they left, etc.) or the door. Humility goes hand and hand with true respect regardless of rank.

Then kick the living crap out of him the next time you spar!!  All on target, mind you.

If he wants to wear a blackbelt, he needs to act like it.  As I said, once the belt goes on, he can't hide behind his age.  Kick him as if you were sparring Steven Lopez.  He should get no consideration for being twelve.  If he wants that, then his mommy should have bought him a red/black poom belt instead.
