the machine helps but usually a wall and something to grab on to push yourself against the wall is all you need.

the best thing i use is the wall or a partner because you can control the thing if you have it but if you have someone else they push you .. or the wall cause it puts your back up strat when your doing splits

You should NEVER feel pain while stretching!

I have a feeling you are not sufficiently warmed up before you attempt stetching for splits.

What's happening is once you get your legs stretched out you got your heels planted in place, but the rest of your legs are still trying to widen. And what's the weakest part of the leg from the ankle up?

Your knees and that is why you feel pain

Be sure to warm up with some cardio or some dymanic stretching and work to a full split gradually opening legs further in small increments and breathing with your stretch.... Good Luck!

Tae Kwon Do is practiced by 70 million people in 180 different countries. If everyone who studied Tae Kwon Do joined hands, they could form a line that would stretch around the globe 1.25 times!

I'm not a big fan of using any machine to help stretch.  I like the method of using the gravity and my own body weight.  I know my husband would disagree as he loves his.
