Jumping rope is phenominal exercise.  Great for building your endurance, foot work, balance, and coordination.  Especially if you get to the point where you can move both your feet.  Move side to side, front to back.  If you mix 5 minutes of jumping rope w/ 5 minutes of continuous bag workout you will have one heck of workout.

narc basically covered everything.  as boring as it may seem, there are a lot of simple variations you can do, and those are not as easy as they seem.  they require a lot of work, and jump rope can improve a lot of basics you need in any sports.

Jumping rope is awesome. My sparring and kicking speed increased dramatically from daily jumping.

I started with 300 revolutions and worked my way up to 5-7 minutes. It's fun too if you learn to move around, use one leg, backwards, etc.
