I'm just curious did anyone else have any fears when they first signed up for classes at their respective dojangs?

I was worried about doing board breaks and kicks since they were foreign at the time.  The first class you have to break a board to get over those fears(side-step kick) and on my first attempt I stepped on the back my pans and ripped up my leg after 6 attempts I finally got through the board.  thankfully I went from "sweet shin music" to "sweet chin music"

My biggest fear was looking like a total idiot!  Indeed I did look like a dancing elephant w/ my feet tied up but I did not let my fear stop me.

i was a bit scared everyone including the instructor were going to be just like the baddies from the the first karate kid movie. i couldn't have been more wrong and it was a sad day when the original instructor moved to america and left us with his right hand man who eventually drove the club into the ground.

My first experience was at the age of seven with Thomkins Karate, which is Tang soo do, and then with Jhoon Rhee.  I signed up because I literally did not want to be bothered by the gang of bullies comprised of kids two to four years older than my little brother and our friends, so I went in with the intent of coming out as a bad ass.  I didn't really have any fears about the class.  In fact, I went in with the idea that it was going to be great.  I was suprised to find that it was better than I had expected it to be.  I trained into the late eighties, then quit due to money: mom and dad stopped paying when I was eighteen and by this point, I had real expenses and a job with Radio Shack.

When I came back to taekwondo at the age of forty, my biggest concern, though not a fear, was with my flexibility.  I was never super flexible as kid or a young man.  But at forty one, after a year of pushing hard, I have surpassed my age-20 flexibility.

I had concerns about my flexibility and weight,  I was conerned I was going to be too fat to TKD but that was quickly changed, yesterday during my weekly weight-in after class I hit the 300 mark (35 lbs left till my goal) but my muscle mass has increased by 15 percent with in the last 6 months which is good meaning I'm trading fat for muscle.
