Ok, I've become a stickler for staying hydrated.  I've had my kidneys shut down twice in high school during wrestling season, not fun, so now that i'm training and working out, I'm doing it properly and no drastic weight cutting.  However it seems like during test no matter what I do I just start shaking really bad like I did in high school when I hadn't been drinking properly.  I'm nervous because I have a belt test this Saturday and I don't want to go down because so something I'm doing wrong.  I'm asking here because my doctor just retired and I'm looking for a new one.

I drink about a gallon of water through out the day and about 2 liters at night. Plus I take some juice, my one can of Dr. Pepper (it's my major vice with hydration) and then I have a powerade for after work outs.  I'm also on vitamans that I take recommend by a doctor.  Foodwise I like  fresh fruit, veggies are always there even when I don't want them. I have about 6-8 oz of meat(chicken turkey, beef) with dinner other times other protiens like beans.  I have plenty of grains.  I haven't had any major weight loss or gain over a short period of them.  Any ideas? just nerves?

think about it this way.  this isn't like exams from highschool.  with highschool exams, you can understand and memorize all the material from the course better than anybody else in your class, but if you bomb your exam, that's the mark it'll show.  in tkd, however, all the classes you've done before the belt test are considered into marking scheme.  some level of confidence is expected, but if you were doing your pattern without any mistakes for months and made couple mistakes during the test, it wouldn't make much difference.
besides, look at how many people actually have failed belt testing from your tkd school.  chances are, only very few did.

there's no reason to be anxious and nervous about it.  treat it like any other tkd classes you've been to.  in fact, it is pretty much the same as your regular class, except for the fact that not everybody in class is doing what you are told to do.

I don't think your issue is w/ hydration but with nerves.  At least that is my oponion.  May I suggest some sort of meditation training or books.  Perhabs discuss it w/ your physician.  I am not one to use medication but I have seen the results in others.  As Doughboy points out, you have put in the work and you know what to expect.  Practice, practice, practice!  Leave nothing to chance.  You should be able to do you poomse w/ your eyes closed.  Sounds funny but I have had several instructors insist on this.  Not as part of a grading test but as a confidence builder.  I have even heard of students doing their forms backwards!  You have to figure out how to relax.  You know the material and you know yourself.  I always look at gradings as a chance to show off!  You have the stage and everyone is watching you!  It's an honor to demonstrate my abilities to my Instructors and the Masters in attendance!  I want to make my Master and my instructors proud.  After all, I am a direct reflection of their teaching!

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

DB and Narcsarge, you both are right.  I know everything for the test, I've wrestled in national tournements and never let that get me.  I'll be sure to let you all know how I did.  I'm getting pumped for this brown belt here I come.
