I almost posted this in 'dojang owners', but I thought that it was better suited to the General TKD spart. How many of you have the equivalent of a home dojang? Sort of like a home gym, but geared for TKD? I have set up my room to be such. I have a makiwari board on the wall, the rug is condusive to performing poomsae, and I have a small number of hand held targets for kicking. I'd like to get a standing heavy bag or a Bob. I figure that we've had some threads about home gyms, so why not home dojangs. Daniel

My condo is too small to have a designated "training" area .
Though, someday, when I finally settle down into a house the wife and I will have a room just for training. Not sure what all will go into it but my wish list is:
Makiwari board Kicking target (wavemaster or the like) Heavy bag Mirrored wall or, at least, a full length mirror
That's just for starters!

I have the whole home dojang thing going on for my daughter.
5X3 meter puzzle matted floor (Bought at Sang Moo Sa for $25 each but was then later offered some used ones for $10 each) mirrors on the wall (Bought at yardsale for $5 each) Century BOB (Bought from a guy on Craigslist for $75) Various kicking shields and paddles Resistance cords Lots of books
Not a bad little setup for working out at home at a cost of a bit over $500

Mine is painfully simple. Heavy bag and speed bag in the attic...(Everlast speed bag/heavy bag combo unit) And for resistance training, I have the Total Gym 1500.
For forms, I 'must' go outside. One of my forms is 81 moves long, and easily requires a 21 by 21 foot area of floor space to do it.

i used to have 2 hogus wrapping one of the pillars in the basement, but apparently, that wasn't a good idea. after a month of solid kicking, i had to remove all the furnitures from my den upstairs...
during summer, i use hogus on trees, and use branches from the bushes. during winter, i use tied up hogu as a striking bag, suspended by springs from both ceiling and floor. of course, it was hanging at the corner of the room where the walk in closet is with full size mirror, and... ya...
before i got my basement done, i sanded a square foot of cement wall and used that for hardening my hands, but cracked that part of the wall, and over the following 2 months, it fell apart on its own...
so, ya, i don't do much at home anymore. but since i live 5 min drive from campus and i'm on campus from 8am till 10pm on weekdays, i do get training done on a daily basis. sometimes, i just go in to take a nap at the room where we do tkd, cuz we have that big blue mat for gymnastics, and it's sooooo quiet in that room!

ahhh I want so much a home dojan.. but I still live at my mothers place and there is no room for it. I sometimes move the furnitur to do poomsae and kick in the air but my mother hates it so I try to do it when she is not at home..híhí. but I mostly try to do it out side in the garden on the gras I dont like it but that is all I got and then I just try to stay longer after trainings and do want to do.

I have an XXL bag in the back yard. In Los Angeles, I can use it year round. I have a matt for strtching & ab work & more than a few books. I don't have a mirror to see how my forms look, however.

I have a heavy bag that is hanging up outside my back door, not ideal as I live in the UK and we can't guarantee the weather.

I have a XXL wavemaster on a foam mat similar to weight room stuff. I also have kick targets which attach the wall or on top of my wave master. My Dojang has them as well it's a light foam pad that extends out with a "flag" bullseye on it. I love it for my wheel kicks. My apartment isn't too good for much else training wise. I have a key to the school were I volunteer as a wrestling coach and go into the wrestling room for forms(the school is only a block away) or the tennis courts if it's lovely outside.

I have a couple hand held focus targets my bf holds for me..and if I move the coffee table there is enough space for a bit of practice but to execute most patterns in full I need to go outside to do it. I wanted to get a standup bag but there is just nowhere to actually put it.
