I had posted this topic before the section disappeared. I maintain a small but thorough martial arts library at home which I'm always looking to add to. Any good book recomendations?

I am sure you have Tao of Jeet Kun Do but one of my favorites is "Zen in the Art of Archery".

Believe it or not, I do not have Tao of Jeet Kun Do, but it is on my to get list! Who is the author of Zen in the art of archery? That is one I'd like to get my hands on.

I at work right now but I'd have to dig it out of my closet. I read it years ago. It was written by one of the first Western Men to be trained by Eastern Monks in Archery. It is fascinating to read about the bow, the pull of the bow, the arrow, and all that "becoming one with..." Great read: The cover has changed since I bought it but you can read about here: http://www.amazon.com/Zen-Art-Archery-Eugen-Herrigel/dp/0679722971

My thanks! I'm getting ready to get back into archery, though I'm trying to find a nice recurve bow; I have a wicked compound bow already.

Wow, there are so many good books that I am not sure where to begin! I will have to look when I am at home this weekend and see which books I would recommend to you! I am not good about remembering titles and authors but I know that I read one from Superfoot that I really liked. It had a lot of good information about defending and counter-attacking. I really enjoyed it!

Let me know what you find in the way of recurves. It was after I purchased a compound bow that I purchased that book. Made wish I had spent my money on a good recurve.

What style of TKD have you been doing? There are some fantastic TKD books out there, but a lot are specific to one style or another. Most of the info will cross over, but anything regarding poomsae and tournament rules will be style specific. I just picked up a book, Taekwondo state of the art by Masters Sung Chul Whang and Jun Chul Whang. It has tons of great general tkd info as well as WTF/KKW tkd info. The Taeguk 1-8 are illustrated and described fantastically! Daniel

I was learning the Tauguek forms but really he crossed over a lot. I liked that he crossed over so much because I felt it gave me the opportunity to learn more so I have read just about anything I could get my hands on in the local library! I have just learned Tauguek 5 within the past month, but I enjoy learning the forms because I find them to be a great way to relieve stress.

If I had time to spend three hours a day to just do forms, I would do so. As it is, I generally have a free hour outside of work/class/childrearing to practice forms, technique, and kumdo forms and technique.
