It was Hot Vinyasa. They heat the room up to 90 degrees and for an hour and half you sweat and do all kinds of different postures and poses. With every movement you inhale and exhale. The was my first time going to a yoga class and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to increase flexibility, balance, and strength. Every single part of your body gets worked. From your toes to your fingertips to your neck, everything is sore today. It's a good pain though, and I will definitely be going back. Has anyone else done yoga?

I have never gone to a yoga class but have done a little bit at home.  You are right, it is definitely a full body workout and you do feel it the next day.  I'm glad you enjoyed it and are planning on going back.

I'm sure there are tons of websites, but I would say go to the class to get the full experience. They burn incense and play relaxing music, and its a different kind of atmosphere then doing it in your house alone. You can definitely take what you learn in the class and do it at home, but at least try a class once. The place where I went gave me a free trial class so I'm sure you could find a similar deal in your area.

I have never taken a class but I do incorporate many of the stretches from Yoga in my stretching regimen.  Being older, I need every advantage I can get.  I like the Yoga pose/stretches that work the hip joint and hip flexors.  This really makes my training much more comfortable.

I'm actually a Bikram Yoga drop-out.

I gave it a shot but it bored me to death!

Our room was heated to 105-106 degress F.  Class was 90 minutes.  And we went over the 26 postures 2-3 times

As a beginner I was told not to do the full stretches until several classes into the program ... although I found them not that difficult.  What I did find difficult was holding certain postures while dripping wet!  I also noticed that in the last 15 min of the class I was getting dizzy & nauseous... whether it was the the heat or the back bends that did it , I am not sure.

I tell you though, I never drank so much water in my life!  I drank nearly 3 litres the day of the class!

But for me ... boring.  I can't stay quiet for a whole 90 minutes with sweat dripping out of every conceivable pore in my body!

Tae Kwon Do is practiced by 70 million people in 180 different countries. If everyone who studied Tae Kwon Do joined hands, they could form a line that would stretch around the globe 1.25 times!

haha I can definitely relate to the insane amount of sweat...but still I liked it. My life is pretty chaotic so I liked the relaxing "bored" atmosphere.

I can't stay quiet for 90 seconds without sweat dripping out of every pore!  Probably means I wouldn't make it 90 minutes!

Yoga classes with higher temps are great for you as they help your muscles to losen up which leads to greater flexibliity.

I am a huge support of yoga as part of regular training.  Expecially for tall people like myself with the flexibility of a old oak tree.
