no competition
Posted On 03/07/2008 12:45:43 by Danni
Has anyone else found that it's hard to find competition at tournaments?  Not so much for forms, weapons, or breaking, but there aren't a lot of black belt women who spar.  It's hard for me to get fired up to compete if there isn't going to be much competition, and I don't want to pay $40-$50 if I don't compete in sparring.  Maybe it's just the area I live in, but anyone else have a similar problem?

I know that KickChick has felt this way and one of my Instructors (42 year old 2nd Dan) has very little competition for her age/rank.  Even at my level, there just aren't a lot opponents.  I do get the chance to spar w/ a wide variety of skill levels because there just isn't a large pool as, say, with the 12 to 20 crowd.  Not to mention the fact that there just don't seem to be too many 20 something females either...

Sorry that probably doesn't make you feel any better!

I'd love to do ladies team sparring!  I hope you appreciate what you have
