First day of TKD
Posted On 02/29/2008 22:24:56 by Danni

Does anyone remember theirs? I was too young I don't really remember anything other than my parents trying to get my sister to try it too

Sometimes I miss when I was a kid and I got different color belts all the time and I got to learn new things all the time.

I like where I am now too, and I love teaching.  I just don't get to learn as many new things.

I also miss the rate of improvement that I had when I first began.  Two weeks after I started I looked like a whole different person.  Now the improving is more subtle and at a slower rate.

yeah, I remember my days as bubmbling little white belt. I was about 11 or 12 years old and I remember the fact that I was only in it because my sister wanted to go into it. I was never really passionate about martial arts yet. That's about it. Otherwise I don't remember the exact details of that lesson. But sooner later my sister kept me going for a bit up to my blue belt with red stripes. Then when my sister left school I stopped training for a couple of year. because i didn't have any interest.

Many years later after my first year of university, something got me interested in martial arts again and I restarted from white belt
at another dojang. This first class I remember really wanting to work hard and not just put the half effort into it that I did when I was a kid.

I remember it well. I was 14. The BB that was teaching was my age & very cute. I had 2 left feet & was tripping over myself. I started with my best friend. Everyone figured he do it forever & I'd quit after 6 months. He quit after 6 months & I've been doing it ever since.

I remember being really sore from stretching the next day. I remember another BB named Ki Oh Chang (now the instructor of many on this site) telling me I needed to keep my tongue in my mouth if I wanted to do this for long. (Apparently, I kept doing a Michael Jordan-esque tongue thing with every step I took).

I remember mine vividly.  The instructor showed me some kicks and realized that I was in the correct stance.  He asked me about it and I told him that I had trained in Shotokan for a few months.  He was impressed.  Even though some of the kicks were different, they used very similar stances.
