So today, after what feels like a million hours of doing other stuff, I finally made training.
Got my new yellow belt with huge green stripe through the middle, and I even beat one of my fellow graders in a mini comp to see who got a new belt and who got a second-hand one.
I also learnt a new pattern tonight, Do-San. I love learning new things so this was a bit of a treat. I did have a weird confidence jitter though. Just after going through it all a couple of times, we went to make the lines up and we needed a green stripe on the front. I was the oldest 7th kup there so maybe I should have stepped up but I got a chill of dread through me so I didn't. Does that make me chicken? Or just having a bad day?
Earlier on we did some assisted stretching - a partner 'helping' take sidekicks to a whole new level. Not the kind of thing I'd make a habit of in polite company but it did the trick. And yup I'm feeling it now. I've just gotta try and stretch it every day so the pain is worth it!
Some interesting news tonight - I thought all the tournaments were done and dusted until February but there's one on the south coast in December.
I normally wouldn't touch it as it's 260 miles away. About 4 and a half hours on a fantastic driving day. But as I'll still be doing a fair bit of work in London (just 76 miles away) I am ever so slightly tempted... we'll see...
