Monday
The AM workout was completely painful, but thankfully I managed to work through it. The funny thing was I hit a diffrent YMCA then normal and ran into a couple of TKD students from other branches.
Jennifer and I decided not to hit the South Branch on Monday night. We just finished with promotional testing and most instructers like to discuss their thoughts on testing with their students so we figured it would be better not to attend class since the South Branch is not our main branch. We did however hit black belt class that night and had a blast. Master Weever had us break down Taeguek Yuk Jang and we worked on self defense combinations from the movements of the poomse. We spend about a half hour on this process and I picked up a few things that worked well for me. Normally when I work on forms I try to visualize the attackers and so forth, but when you take the technques out and and apply them as one steps you develope a even greater understanding of the form.
Tuesday Class
I was alittle under the weather today so practice and class did not go well at all. I think I was winded in the first 15 minutes and stayed that way through the entire class. I will admit I walked out feeling extremely defeated, however I know tommorow is another day and when I can breath again I will do just fine. The West Branch is known for the cardio intense classes and when you are stuffed up and can not breath cardio is not easy to come by.
On a brighter side of things it was nice to see everyone today and hear everyones feed back about testing and ofcourse hearing our instructers thoughts on the matter. I was nice to see that everyone was in agreement that those who tested did great and as a branch we did expecially well. In some ways I think this may bother those who have not tested, however perhaps it will motivate them to train hard to test for next time.
No one stuck around for group practice after class. It sounded like Everyone was stuffed up and breathing heavy enough already so we decided to just call it a night and recover. My goal was to get in some sauna time after class, however the West YMCA's sauna was broken and I do not think the steamroom was cleaned sence May. If all goes welll I will get a hour of sauna time tommorow morning after my workout so I should be OK for classes.
