Wow you can tell that black belt testing is this weekend. I have only been attending black belt class for about 2 months at this point. Normally the classes are around 25-40 people, however tonight I think there was 60+ people in class.
Class was very full and it was difficult to work advanced combinations because the lack of room from one line to the next. We worked basic drills for a bit, then poomse and finished of the class with "one steps." I felt bad for my one step training partner because I think I was atleast a foot taller then her which made it difficult for her to do some of the techniques on me.
Overall class went well and I manged to pick up a couple more "one steps". It was odd that of the 10 red belt black tips there only 2 of us will not be testing this weekend. I am looking forward to attend the test and supporting everyone, as well as making notes about what types of techniques the red belt/black tips had to do and what types of questions were asked to help me better prepare myself or my testing. I am also wondering how many people that I could be testing with in Feb will start attending black belt class after this test is over. I am hopeful that a fair number of people I may be testing with starts attending black belt class soon so as a group we will know each other and be comfortible testing as a group. Aside from training reasons I am also extremely interested in seeing how I may be training with and learning about them as individuals, not just as people who may be on my test.
Tommorow will be a very busy day. The West Branch as practice testing and a number of people expressed interest in staying after class for light form practice and perhaps drills that may be on promotional testing.
