So many Martial Arts classes practice Eastern Religion Meditation. Since we are a Christian Karate Class we do not do that, instead we meditate on God's Word, so these are the passages with my thoughts on them for this week. Pressing on toward the goal to win the prize; I believe the prize he is referring to is Heaven. Yes the prize in won at the point of salvation and from there you could just stop running the race and let Christ carry you the rest of the way but will you want Him to. I truly believe that if you are truly saved you will want to press on. You will press on by doing the things God asks you to do in the Bible, telling others about God and His salvation, and developing a close relationship with God. Fighting the good fight for God. That is how you press on toward the mark to win the prize. Learn, change, grow and share what you have learned. If you become stagnant you got to pick yourself up and get going. It is just like if you sit for too long the muscles and joints get tight, It is hard to get back up. Tuesday 6/3/2008 Philippians 3:12b-2112b I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 15All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16Only let us live up to what we have already attained. 17Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you. 18For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. 20But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. Thursday 6/5/2008 John 14:1-6, 27-28 1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[a]; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going." 5Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. 28"You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
