Having a bad day
Posted On 04/28/2008 20:44:23 by Yokixx

Ok, so I've had a bad day today but let me start out by saying that I can laugh about this now.

Woke up this morning for some reason thinking it was Sunday.  Not sure what happened but I had this very strange dream that today was Sunday. I woke up thinking I have all day to do stuff around the house.  Flipped on the TV and quickly realized its MONDAY!!!!  I don't think I've ever experienced this since High School?

If only I didn't turn on the TV, I could have spent the whole day in bliss.  Maybe I would have taken my daughter shopping or just have quite time at home reading to her or watching a movie together.  OH well, whatever, back to reality!

It was drizzling today, so I got my umbrella and dropped of my daughter at the daycare.  Then off to work I went.

Work was busy as usual and pretty uneventful.  I am assigned to 3 different project which keeps me pretty busy.  I was pre-occupied all day and didn't realize the time until it was 5:02PM!  I usually need to leave office at around 4:50PM to get to my babysitters on time.  So I realize that I am going to be late to pick up my daughter so I was just about to log off when I get an IM message at 5:03 PM, why do people do this?  One of my pet peeves is people IM'ing or calling first thing in a morning or right at 5 PM..  I'm fairly use to it but every now and then it gets to me but not a big deal.  This happens often enough and even I've been guilty of sending an IM or call last minutes.

I kindly requested this person to send me an email and I will respond first thing in the morning since I am on my way out the door.  Then I dash out only to realized that it is pouring!  I had to go back to my cubical to pick up my umbrella.  I eventually made it to my car it is now 5:10 but as I was driving out of my work's parking lot, I nearly ran over the police officer who was directing traffic, he was motioning me to stop.  Agghhh!!!  I'm late!!!  Ok, its ok, I tell myself, ok relax, the babysitter will understand if you are few minutes late.  NO biggy, but I hate being late.  So I decided call her and let her know that I am going to be late.  As I grabbed for my purse, the officer motioned me to go.  Can you believe this?? Talk about bad timing.

Well ok, so at the next stop light, I will look through my purse and will call my babysitter.  At the stop light, I quickly tried to find my cell phone.  Checking my purse pockets etc... No cell phone!  Looking at all nukes and crannies of my purse.  No cell phone!!!

Then a car behind me gives me a friendly "honk" to kindly alert me that the light has turned green.  Of course!  So I drive off.

My frustration level is at a high but trying to talk myself down and listening to soothing music helps.  Then realizing that Monday nights are kicking drill night at my school.  I've already missed several classes so I thought, tonight I will go to class to work off all this stress.  So no matter how bad my day is, I am thinking there's always Taekwondo!  A perfect way to channel that negative energy and make it a positive one!

Amazingly, I picked up my daughter on time and amazingly with the rain and all the highway was not heavy in traffic as I thought it would be.  So that's one positive thing working for me today!  See my day is getting better already!  Taekwondo is going to make it that much better!  So I waited for my husband to get home so that I could go to class.  Waited, and waited... No sight of him anywhere.  I called him on his cell phone, no answer!  @#!%^^%$^

About 30 minutes later, he calls me to let me know that he was running late from his work.  By this time, I had given up the idea of training tonight anyways so it wasn't a big deal but I have to say today just was not my day.

However, I was able to relax and ease my tension by watching some funny videos on the net, spending time with my daughter and over all, it turned out to be a great day.  Because when you have a bad day, it just makes it that much more special that you survived that day with grace!

Looking back, I don't know why I was all that stressed out, yes I had few things working against me today but come on!  Its not like I was dodging bullets, explosions and fighting vampires!  Though it felt like it at times.  Plus, if it was Sunday like I thought when I woke up, that would mean that I would of had to gone through what I did today, tomorrow!  And the Taekwondo class was a bummer but I got to spend time with my daughter!  And it was nice to watch those funny videos!
