Yesterday I had a procedure done on my back.  The procedure is called a Radio Frequency Coagulation.  I've been having this done for about 12 years now.  It really helps relieve the pain I have from my arthritis in my S/I joint and lower back.  The problem with this procedure is that it is VERY painfull.  The good part is that the pain goes away for about a year, which means that I don't need pain meds during that time.  If I didn't have this done I wouldn't be able to move without hurting real bad. I think I'll go back to sleep now.

I'm feeling a lot better today. I'm not hurting as bad.  The procedure won't help with all types of pain, at least I don't think so.  You'd need to see a good Pain Specialist to discuss the procedure.  There are diagnostics that would need to be done first to see if it would help you. And, like I said, Radio Frequency Coagulation is VERY painfull.  Most people can only stand to have it done once, and would rather go back to having injections every couple weeks and pain meds.

Maybe I can get this done1 I am always in constant pain with my lower back!
robably have to have another Xray to see what kind of damage has been done in the past 5-10 years1

At least you know the pain is temporary and that you have a whole year to look forward to! Hope youre feeling better today!

RFC is a procedure which burns the nerve endings, essentially distroying them.  Once they die there is no more pain until the nerves regenerate, which takes about a year.

what does that RFC do to make the pain go away?
