I just recently returned from a trip to southern Spain (Costa del Sol) We stayed at the Gran Melia Don Pepe in Marbella. We also visited Tangier, Morocco and Gibralter (British -owned so I was able to visit the UK sort of!)
Had a fantastic time.
8 hours on the plane and a 6 hour time difference !!!!
The weather was cool about 65-70 F ... and we did have some rain (although we were told it never rains in Spain only about one week out of the year.... I guess we picked the week!)
We visted several bullrings and cathedrals. We went to Ronda, Granada and Mijas. Enjoyed the shopping in Puerto Banos (the Rodeo Drive Bevery Hools area of Marbella)
We visted the one of the most important architectural wonders of the world "La Alhambra" in Granada
Enjoyed clubbing at La Notte nightclub where a beer cost about 22.00 US !!!
Morocco was indeed an experience and we rocked the Kasbah, rode camels and watched some snakes being charmed.
Ate Moroccon food, drank Casablanca beer & belly danced (all in that order!)
Saw the apes on Gibralter. The saying goes that Gibralter will remain British as long as the apes remain. They were brought over orig. from Morocco. At one point their numbers were dwindling and Winston Churchill brought more over. It shall remain British!
We visited St. Michaels Cave, had fish & chips and a Guiness at the Angry Friar. I tried to make one of the Royal guards on sentry laugh but he was way too stone faced!
