Tournament Jitters
Posted On 04/10/2008 15:18:56 by kicksupbaby
The tournament is quickly approaching and my club is training hard on sparring and forms. Myself and a fellow brown belt are training hard learning black belt form. Some of the students are getting nervous as the tournament is getting closer, some of the students are competing for the first time, and I am trying to tell them to keep relaxed keep a clear head and they will do fine. I remember what it was like when I was at my first tournament. Anyhow, we are training hard for the 19th. We are patiently waiting and wanting to see who will be at the tournament and see who the competitors will be. For those of you who know Canada, we will be competing in Dartmoth, NS. Its not usually a big tournament but its exciting to see who will be there. It will be my first time competing in Dartmoth so I don't know what it will be like, the only place I've competed in are in Sydney which is a huge tournament  I love it.. Anyway thats all for now

Good luck! A good thing to tell them is that the whole point is to have fun and learn some things along the way. With that attitude, you shouldn't be nervous! With the attitude that it is a competition and people will be judging you, then there's a good reason to be nervous.

Thanks! Yes I will remember to tell them that when we get there :) I will tell the head instructor to have a little meeting and tell the kids the rules and just to have fun and learn win or loose have fun and learn. But I also want them to be relaxed someone who is tence can have a hard time. Its just the waiting that the hard part lol.
