Speeding ticket
Posted On 03/27/2008 20:55:31 by KickChick

Argh!!!!!!!! I was called early this morning by the local gym to teach a kickboxing class at 9:00. I am on call as a substitute kickboxing instructor. It pays very well and it is quite different to teach at a gym then at the Tae Kwon Do school. The regular teacher had a miscarriage the day prior so was not feeling well.

It was last minute so I tied my hair up, put on the sweats and grabbed my gloves and drove to the gym.

I drive past a police car on my right and then glanced in my rear view mirror to see flashing lights and was truly surprised that it was me he was pulling over. I was speeding???

"License, registration & insurance card please"....

"Yes Sir"

"You do realize you were going 42 in a 25 mile an hour road"

"I was? ... so sorry"

"Where may I ask are you off to?" - I can see him looking at my boxing gloves on the seat beside me.

"Well I am teaching a kickboxing class in about 10 minutes" ....

The police office puts his hands up and backs away from the car..... "Oh don't worry Ma'am you're not getting a ticket but just a warning. Please drive safely and slowly to your destination"

"Yes sir" ... Thank you!!"

You're a true Bad-ass KC!  Honesty is the best way to get out of ticket.  Congratulations.

I can just bet you were sighing with relief!!  I have found that as long as you are friendly and polite, police are usually willing to give a warning.  It also never hurts to give them something to smile or laugh about!  I once told an officer that I was hurrying to get to work to pay the ticket I was about to be given and he just laughed and told me to slow down.  I had made his day by being friendly and having a sense of humor about being pulled over.  Either way, they are just doing their job so if they write the ticket, I can't really blame them!

one of my good friend drives like a maniac, and she's unbelievably hot.  i asked her one day how many tickets she'd got so far, and she said "cops don't give tickets.  they just give warnings and you have to meet up with them for dinner for follow up safety lessons".

I have a feeling he was laughing afterwards.  You probably made his day!

Haha, that's always good to see cops with a sense of humor. They have a dangerous job to do, and I understand their intensity, but to goof off a bit, that's always a kinda gesture the law-abiding citizens.
