Entering another MMA tourney
Posted On 02/07/2010 08:35:57 by Simon_Booth

I have another Mixed martial art Tournament coming up this month; I seriously doubt anyone here remembers, but my last one was about 18 months ago, and there aren't many people in my weight category in any martial art, so I will probably end up fighting outside  of my category again.

Needless to say, I am bricking it. My kicks have improved a lot since then so if I can keep my distance I shall do ok, but up close I stand no chance against the kickboxers.

Hehe; wish... Read More

Friendship tournament on Guam
Posted On 03/18/2009 10:52:21 by oceanicmartian

This past weekend I participated in the 2009 Guam Friendship Tournament at the mall between my school and another one in the area.  We had some instructors from schools not participating officiate to ensure non-biased judging.  The event looked to me to be a success.  No blood was shed and none of the competitors had to be carried out of the ring.  A pretty large crowd of observers gathered, which is good for promotion of the art.  As far as my performance, I place se... Jumping back in

Hello All,

Well, after MANY years of not competing, I have decided to compete again.  I'm a little nervous, at the age of 46 and trying to compete with many BlackBelts who have stayed with the tournaments, I'm sure I will have my work cut out for me.

I have decided that for tournaments this year, I plan only to compete in Breaking and Patterns. I'll see how that goes, then maybe try sparring again.

For breaking I used to do a Blind folded 360 Jumpspin side.... Read More

Expanding horizons

New job, new routine, and now I can add new training venue to that mix too.

My latest role takes me 66 miles away from home which equates to a 100 minute drive in the morning and a 75 minute drive home every night after completing a ten-hour day.

It's a long old day, and crucially it means that I can only train on days when I'm not working.

I've asked for Wednesday or Fridays as my day off (it's only a four-day week fortunately) but that's not always possible, so last wee... Read More
