General 2008 ended up a very positive year for me. I felt I've gotten a lot out of my role as an instructor, as well as my extra training. With the prospects of 2009 coming, 2008 is ending on a very optimistic note for me.

Why is it that in a sport (UFC, Spirit, etc, etc) where MMA and free style fighting are king you find people winning consistently with strong backgrounds and foundations in traditional focused martial arts yet the martial arts systems that were inheirently mixed are nowhere to be found. Wrestling, Jui Jitsu, Karate, TKD (more Spirit than UFC), Judo, Muay Thai fighters have all found success where as Jeet Kun Do, Hap Ki Do, Krav Maga etc are all absent. ... Read More
BJJ & MMA
Sadly, due to some economics and time issues, the MMA team (the BJJ and striking teacher) will be moving next year to a wrestling facility 15 mins away. The 15 min drive will be a small burden, since I've been spoiled enough to never really commute more than 5 mins to class. Ok! I deleted my first post because I had made a complete hash up of explaining, well, everything. On sunday I entered a mixed martial arts competition, though it was mainly kickboxing and a few karate places, with a few MMA specific ones. Health and Fitness -- Strength Training (4 sets for each exercise)
My last week of power training. The next couple of weeks will most likely be improvised, until I can think of a new way I'd like to train.
