Both of my sons hold a black belt in kumdo, though my youngest took a break after getting his black belt last May. He just signed up for TKD and started his first class on Saturday. So far, he loves it and seems to be taking to it more than he did with Kumdo. As an assistant instructor, I get to help teach some of the kids, and it usually doesn't take much to see whether someone has actually practiced or not. With all the techniques in TKD, it can be very easy to start slipping up.
Depending on what belt a person is, our tests will comprise of kicking drills, self defense, weapons, poomsae, one-step and possibly more.
