I'm 44 years old and work in public affairs for a major Commonwealth department for the Australian Government. The job is more often than not quite sedentary so I took up TKD to help get me fit.
I'm married to a lovely woman who thinks me slightly mad (but she already knew that!) to take up TKD but she's happy that it makes me happy. We don't have any kids but tend to spoil our nieces and nephews rotten.
TKD TESTIMONY
I'm so new to TKD I still squeak! Well, maybe I should say, "creak"!
I got in to TKD through the advice of some close friends in Perth, Western Australia. They were supportive and suggested it when I told them I wanted to take up exercise that was more than just for exercise sake.
I tried Aikido and Karate when I was younger but didn't enjoy either of them. TKD, however, has proved to be quite enjoyable. But getting my out of shape body to bend in ways it hasn't had to for a very long time is going to take some time.
On 30 Nov 2008 I successfully graded for 8th Gup. And I'm really happy.
EDIT: Because all my family and friends back in Perth are with a school that follows WTF I've bitten the bullet and decided to switch from my ITF school in Canberra to a WTF one.
