I enjoy writing the occasional software program in .NET, reading books, bike riding, hiking and 4-wheeling. Eventually I want to learn to play the piano and read sheet music. I would also like to take up sled dog racing when I have the opportunity. Taekwon-Do has got to be my biggest and most enjoyable activity to do.

Participated in the 2005 and 2006 Universal Taekwon-Do Federation (UTF) Triple Challenge.

Almost anything, waaay to many to list on one page.

His Dark Materials, the Eragon series, White Fang, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Giver. There's probably a million more I could list.

Martial Arts & Life, UTF

I never saw myself doing Taekwon-Do for a variety of reasons, mostly physical ones. Due to some challenges that I face I never thought that it was an option I had been told by therapist many times before that because of the demands of the activity something like martial arts wouldn’t be a good choice for me. For years I believed that Taekwon-Do (as well as so many other things) was off limits. It wasn’t until my identical twin brother (who doesn’t have the physical challenges I do) got his 1st Dan and took me to a class that I began to consider trying it out. For four years both my brother and Master Langlas asked me to give it a go. Eventually I sat down with Master Langals and I gave him every reason that I wouldn’t make a good student as if I was looking for a reason not to join. For every “reason” I had Master Langlas had a reason I should be in class. That very day I ended up putting on a dobok for the first time and participating in class, I haven’t looked back since then. All of my physical issues have gotten better ten fold, this doesn’t mean that I don’t still struggle with them but never before in my entire life have I had more control over myself both physically and mentally. Although I can’t get rid of my challenges Taekwon-Do has provided me an avenue to learn how to deal with and finally after 15 years begin to accept myself for who I am in a physical sense. I won’t deny that it was hard at first and it still is, some classes are more humbling than others but I’ve never had so much fun getting to know myself. It is ironic really that I was so scared of what I wouldn’t be able to do that now I’m stunned at what I can do. These days you couldn’t tare me away from the dojang if you tried. When I’m in that uniform the world just seems to make sense and if I can break a sweat and have fun during class then I know I’m doing something right. Belonging to this kind of community is a reward in and of itself. I have had so many good experiences; it has truly changed my life. You can truly make the impossible possible if you give it your time and devotion. So anyone who thinks they can’t or shouldn’t give Taekwon-Do a try I want you to know you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, everyday you practice you are better than when you started whether you know it or not. I can say honestly and without a big head, if I can do it, I know you can too. You CAN be successful, the question is, do you want to be? The choice is yours.

I"m a college student hoping to get a BA in communication working part time at a grocery store. I enjoy helping others and encouraging them to become more then they are.

I am a proud member of Pathways Taekwon-Do (formally Langlas' Taekwon-Do) located in Wheaton Illinois. We are a member of the Universal Taekwon-Do Federation U.T.F.

Check out our website

The Universal Takekwon-Do Federation (UTF) was founded by Grandmaster Han Cha Kyo in 1981 after branching off from the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF). As a result we practice many of the same patterns and principles although there are some differences.

Currently the UTF is headed by Co-Presidents Master James Langlas (7Th Dan) and Master Paul Irvin (7Th Dan) who were appointed by Grandmaster Han.

I’ll be updating my profile soon with more in-depth information, until then I encourage you to Visit the UTF website

You are most welcome!

Small world indeed I was just talking to my roommate the other night and he
mentioned that you train under Grandmaster Han Cha Kyo's brother! Unfortunately
I didn't have the chance to meet Grandmaster Han Cha Kyo before his passing in
1996, but I have been fortunate to train under Master Langlas and many others
in the UTF who have trained with him.

Just out of curiosity, what forms do you practice? I've always wondered if
there are any major differences in their teachings of Taekwon-Do.

We do the ITF Chang Hon Patterns, I believe the same as you. Who is your room mate that knows me? Hummm, I'm very curious.

Such a small world....

Welcome! I like your opening statement, well put. One of my favorite sayings from the founder of the organization I use to belong to, Eternal Grand Master H.U. Lee fits very well I think with your success and growth, "Today not possible, Tomorrow possible". Keep up the great work.
