Blog Entry: I haven't had time to write or the opportunity to write to everyone in a while. My children and I have been going through some tough times, as of late. It all came to a head 2 days before I was to test for 3rd Dan. I had to make a really important, but scary decision for us. I won't get into all the details, but I know I made the right one and we are now adjusting and I now feel a sense of peace I haven't had in eons. On this path that I was on, there was one constant and consistent source of support and compassion that warms my heart and makes my eyes tear up. My Tae Kwon Do family. They offered help in so many ways, sharing the responsibility of teaching classes for 2 weeks while we were away, words of encouragement, opened up their homes to us, food, generous gifts to help us get through a time of sparsity, and opening up their hearts and arms to embrace me with the love that I needed. I am so fortunate to have my TKD family. The love still pours in. I just received tonight a pan of homemade cinnamon rolls and homemade chili. Wonderful families, wonderful people. Yes, I have gotten support from my church and the community, but the ones that I know will be there for me are the ones I sweat with, rejoice in the little successes with and have experienced that same sense of belonging I have received from this great martial art. Has anyone else ever felt as strong of a bond with their classmates? All my students are great, amazing people. I hope that you will someday experience the same love that I receive from my students. If you haven't already.
