TKD Testimony? Well I don't know about any testimonies but I have loved doing it since I started and will continue until I can't.
ABOUT ME
I had done MA years back. I got halfway to my BB in Northern Shaolin Kung Fu but had a sudden stoppage when the car I was in was hit by a drunk driver - on the way to class. Hips and lower back took the worst of it and I had resigned myself to not being able to do it. Fast forward about 20 years and my kids tell me they want to take TKD. I was thrilled. After about a month or so of watching and squirming in my chair I was told by my wife to join or she'd kill me :). Still can't do the kinds of things I used to be able to due because of the injury and of course... age, but I still got the bug.
i just made a lists of chapters to study for final exams, and i'm pretty sure i'm not gonna go to commonwealth. total 6 exams between dec 2 and 15th, covering 33 chapters.
We do the Chang Hung patterns- Chon Ji, Dan Gun, etc, etc. I had to re-learn them a little bit, as the TAGB (and some other schools) do them slightly differently from the ITF (I used to train with the ITF)- ITF use the 'sine wave' motion (see my very boring blog post) and TAGB use the 'hip twist' instead.

Ha ha!
Yes, we're basically the same as ITF (but not actually affiliated with them).
TAGB came about in 1983 when a bunch of masters got fed up with the politics of certain associations and decided to start their own!
Sounds good - I hate when the political crap get in the way. Went thru some of that recently. WTF/Kukkiwon decided to tweek the Taegeuk patterns we use. They didn't end up changing them all that much but it has been a pain in the rear trying to remember them as opposed to the automatic way the brain / muscle memory falling into what you've been doing for years. Still - not as bad as some of the goofy things that have gone on.
What type of forms do you guys do? Taegeuk... Palgwae... other?

Thanks for the add sir! It's great to know you made a come back from a pretty serious injury- a lesser man would have given up!!
PS. What style is it you practice?
Thanks Maddog. Although I can't do the things I used to be able to to ( I'm sure that age has a bit to do with that as well) I cannot imagine what my off-work life would be without it. Sometimes the pain in the Hips and lower Back can be pretty bad but I'm not stopping. In fact... I'm currently in training to test for my 2nd Dan. It's probably the brain damage I got from when I played Football
My school is a WTF school. My Master says "Taekwondo is Taekwondo". That being said, our roots are in Chung Do Kwan. Our GM is a 7th Dan in TKD and Hapkido. He's also highly ranked in Judo and Kumdo.
How about your school. Your with the TAGB. Is that closer to the WTF-ish style or the ITF?
