I love shooting. I go to the range about twice a week; there's something very liberating and exhilarating in shooting holes in paper bad guys with my Glock. I also love to do some metal-sculpting, and I've sold a few of my pieces. It's more of a therapeutic process than a money-making venture, but it's nice when someone else appreciates the work. I love being outdoors, so hiking, fishing, kayaking are things I love to do and wish I had more time to do. Otherwise, I like kicking back in my hammock with a good book.

House of Flying Daggers, one of my favorite movies...

Other favorite movies:
Amelie, Kill Bill, Hero, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Love Actually, Eurotrip, Kissing Jessica Stein, Star Trek, The Usual Suspects, Clueless, A Walk to Remember, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Heartbreakers, the Bourne movies, Memoirs of a Geisha, 40 Year Old Virgin, Monty Python's Holy Grail, The Matrix, Return to Me, James Bond films, The Sound of Music, Shrek, Elizabethtown, Legends of the Fall, Sabrina, The American President, The Contender, The Saint, X-Men, Office Space, Down Periscope, The Princess Bride, Master of the Flying Guillotine, Army of Darkness, The Game, Sideways, Failure to Launch, Tombstone, Down with Love, Mel Brooks movies.

Nickelback, Godsmack, Billie Holiday, James Taylor, Evanescence, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, The Shins, Disturbed, Pink Floyd, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Ani DiFranco, Incubus, Diana Krall, Enigma, Metallica, Aerosmith, Fergie, Lenny Kravitz, Kanye West, old school rap, Frank Sinatra, Breaking Benjamin, Counting Crows, Sevendust, Simple Plan, Bob Marley, Buckcherry, The Beatles, AC/DC, Queen, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rascal Flatts, Akon, Maroon 5, Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, The Eagles, Black Eyed Peas, Dashboard Confessional, Soundgarden, The Sundays, Three Days Grace, Collective Soul, Ingrid Michaelson, The Fray, Jem, Nina Simone, The Corrs, Staind...and I have to specifically mention Merl Saunders' "Blues from the Rainforest" featuring Jerry Garcia.

The Awakening by Kate Chopin. Any Jane Austen, James Patterson, Nicholas Sparks, Dan Brown, Dean Koontz, Nora Roberts, Janet Evanovich, Sandra Brown, Mitch Albom, Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss. I love Dickens and Shakespeare. Loved the Harry Potter books! I like Stephen King's short stories. I love Rumi poems...Persian poetry is so simple and beautiful and it's surprising and somehow comforting to discover all the sensuality and romance in those works.

t.s.k

I first fell in love with TKD when I was 10 years old. My brother was enrolled in classes, and for some reason my parents didn't allow me to train. I think they wanted a ballerina instead of a martial artist for a daughter, but I thought it would be cool to be both. :) Anyway, I would stand off to the side when my brother was in class and I would practice the techniques. I learned forms and one-steps and worked on my own. When I turned 16 and got my first car and first job, I signed myself up for classes. I trained for six years in TKD (WTF, USTA, TA) and then dabbled in a few other styles. I had to retire from martial arts for about a decade when I developed some ankle problems and some tumors in my feet that left me with nerve damage. I still have no sensation in the balls of my feet and in a few toes on each foot, which really makes TKD an interesting adventure. I'm just thankful to be back in TKD (ITA) after many, many years of being away from it. I started over again as a new white belt 2+ years ago and have worked back into my 1st degree black belt. TKD is truly my passion and I look forward to continuing to grow as a martial artist. Maybe one of these days I'll even start trickin', but for now I tend to be more of a land-based creature. ;)

Other than that...I've been married for nine years and my husband and I have a seven year old daughter. My husband is active duty Army and is currently deployed to Iraq until September 2008. Army life is very challenging, and this deployment is really hard. This is my husband's third one-year deployment in the last five years. Fortunately I have a really awesome TKD family, and the dojang is my second home. It helps to be active and surrounded by such great people in such a positive environment.

I'm a work in progress...
I am currently training in TKD, Kung Fu, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Sagittarius

Likes: Martial arts, sarcasm, shiny metal objects, peace and quiet, the letter Z, sitting in the hammock, the sound of really sharp scissors cutting through paper, UK accents, being a mom, breaking boards with a palm heel, otters, a good book, living in the South, caramel macchiato, shooting holes in paper bad guys with a Glock, sci-fi, astrology, green tea, Granny Smith apples, random acts of kindness, tarot cards, skeet-shooting, spin heel kicks, the time-space continuum, my pets, pedicures, my disastrous attempts at being artistic, learning the Korean sword, water balloon fights, standing in the rain after TKD, a good laugh.

Dislikes: War, whole milk, coconut, driving in heavy rain, being eternally misunderstood, migraines, mayonnaise, snakes, long deployments, laundry, 3 am., being hacked, having zits and wrinkles at the same time in my life, taking out the garbage, terrorists, weirdos, stalkers, pedophiles, cashews, that manicures last less that 24 hours, ankle pain, root beer, breaking with a hammerfist, plants that won't live through my clumsy attempts at caring for them, hot dogs, the constant phone calls begging me to star in a Girls Gone Wild flick.

Things are good!  Son starts football on the 14th, have my wife's birthday this weekend, and I have 3 days to get everything done before I have to go back to work.    Oh, took the little one to Bass Pro Shops and let him look at all the guns!  You should have seen his eyes when he held the .50 Desert Eagle!
