Taek Kyon OR Tae Kkyon?

Taek Kyon seems to be the spelling that everybody uses, including TK organizations.  But when I looked it up, the proper spelling is supposed to be Tae Kkyon.

Quote:

What do the Korean characters or what does Taekkyon mean in English? What is the literal translation?

I looked up the Chinese character spelling of TK, and Koreans pronounce that as Tak Kyon.  Tak has many different meanings (e.g., to rely on, to ask for, to support, etc), but keeping what TK is like, I'm assuming it means 'to push'.  Kyon also has many different meanings (e.g., shoulder, sturdy, to overcome something, straight, etc), and I'm not sure which meaning they were going for here.

P.S.  My inbox has been empty for a while now, it seems there is some sort of bug that needs to be worked out as it keeps saying that I have 2 new comments all the time.

Its great reading your posts! You bring a great true light to a great true art.
Thank you. I do my best to share what I have come across, but am sorry that I have been attacked on this forum, which I think has no place in the MAs. In a match I punck or kick you, you defend & counter. In a debate I put for an assertion & you counter with your viewpoint. If the debate is historical in nature, you should respond in kind, with verifiable evidence to support an assertion.

I do thank you for your kind words!

The problem is you are not discussing historical facts as say two historians recreating the battle of Waterloo. You are talking to folks who belive their facts out of pure belief and no facts. Instead of a historical event in all facts its more like you are shoing true history against belief. More like explaining the role of the real Saint Nicholas to folks that still believe in Santa Claus. There is going to be a huge emotional release before it moves forward simply because of all the emotional belief invested in that belief to begin with. With human beings the art is to understand that and to not take it personally and to let it occur, watch it and then step back in to continue explaining the truth ; )

Hang in there, its not easy killing Santa but we all have to grow up one day.

This is the best self defense video on youtube I've come across this month.  Thought I'd share it, doing it on comments because your mailbox is full.

Good morning!

The weapons group is a subgroup.  Here is the link:  http://tkdspace.com/groups/view/id_65/

It is one that I had started a long time back and as the creator, I thought I would do something with it.  I almost deleted it, as there had been few post and none in over a year.  But I thought that I would give it a shot in the arm.

It is an open join group.
