BOOKS
I prefer fiction - too much studying I think! I like a bit of escapism so anything un-put-downable. I don't mind the subject matter: crime, romance, comedy, whatever - as long as it is well written.
I was introduced to Tae Kwon Do when I was at school. One of the teachers took an after school club. To look at him you would not imagine how tough he was.It goes to show that you definately cannot judge a book by its cover! I really enjoyed the experience and what he taught us. We gained courage and confidence and he an awlful lot of respect.
When I was on my placement year at university I lived quite a long way from home. My two house mates were heavily into Step aerobics. Frankly it was just not for me, it bored me rigid and made my knees hurt (which isn't good in my book). I cast my mind back to when I was at school and decided to look around for a Tae Kwon Do school. I joined a school in Grantham and loved every minute of it.
When I returned home after my university placement I joined a school in Newton Abbot. I made some really good friends and Tae Kwon Do really filled a gap in my life.
During my final year of University I stopped training. I found that the course workload and demands of training were too much.
I then moved away to work, retrained as a teacher, and then the children came along. There never seemed the right time to re-start.
Now after a break of 13 years, and relocating back to my home town of Torquay, I have started to train again. I chose to return to my original club (even though there are closer ones) as I remember it being very friendly (can't stand cliques) and supportive. There are still a few old faces there too! Yet again I think that it has filled a gap in my life which I really needed. I can't wait until my training days come along.
TAGB is my TKD organisation.

A warrior of the light you have the qualities of a rock.
When it is in flat area - everything in his environment found the harmony-, it is kept stable.
The persons can construct his or her houses on what it was created, because the tempest will not destroy it.
When, on the other hand, they place it in sloping area - and the things that surround it do not demonstrate balance or respect-, he reveals his true force; it rolls towards the enemy who threatens the peace.
In this moment, the warrior is devastating, and nobody manages to detain it.
A warrior of the light thinks about the war and about the peace at the same time, and can act in agreement with the circumstances.
The warrior of the light sometimes acts as the water, and flows among the obstacles that he finds.
In certain moments, to resist means to be destroyed; then, he adapts to the circumstances.
She agrees without protesting that the stones of the way plan his course across the mountains.
In this the force of the water resides; it can never be a gully for a hammer, not hurt by a knife. The most powerful sword of the world is unable to leave a scar on , your surface.
The water of a river adapts to the most feasible way, without forgetting his lens: the sea. Fragile in his birth, slowly he is acquiring the force of other rivers that he finds. And from a certain moment, your power is total.
